China falls deeper into deflation, with consumer prices suffering biggest fall since 2009

China’s consumer prices have experienced a significant decline, reaching their lowest point since the global financial crisis in 2009. The Consumer Price Index, which measures changes in goods and services purchased by urban households, dropped 0.8% in January compared to the previous year. This marks the fourth consecutive month of decline, but some analysts believe that the trend may have already hit its lowest point.
